Residential Forum notes 5th December 2018

Residential Forum

Held at Crossroads Care Home 5th December 2018

These are notes (not minutes) and reflect the opinions and understandings of those present

Mary chaired the meeting.

Laura Smale of NHS Kernow was expected to attend to talk about the Red Bag scheme, but unfortunately, she did not arrive.

The meeting discussed the Trusted Assessor scheme and provided Richard with a few examples of issues to report back to Karen Kay.

Mary demonstrated the Red Bags and talked Providers through the paperwork. The scheme has already been launched with the few Providers that have been involved in setting up the scheme and the bags are to be sent to all Care Homes that admit to RCHT shortly.

Further details on the scheme and replacement paperwork is available on the Council’s website at https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/health-and-social-care/adult-commissioning-and-transformation/care-home-services/

One of the hospital admission changes with the Red Bag scheme is that medication is no longer to be sent in with the patient.

The meeting discussed Gross Payments as one Provider reported receiving a letter or email saying that it will start from January 2019. No other Providers were aware of this. CPIC will raise this at the next Partnership meeting.

Mary requested feedback on the safeguarding process or any safeguarding issues as CPIC has two representatives on the Safeguarding Board, one for Residential and one for Domiciliary care.

The meeting closed at 16:00.
